Ben Suchomma begins his first season as the head men's lacrosse coach at Marietta College in 2022-23. He is the Pioneers' second head coach since the program was relaunched in 2019. Suchommas comes to Marietta after serving as the assistant coach at Grove City College for the last four seasons.
Serving as the offensive coordinator, Suchomma helped guide Grove City to an undefeated conference record and third consecutive Presidents Athletic Conference championship in 2022. He also helped the Wolverines to three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.
Suchomma also spent the summer of 2022 as the assistant coach for the Puerto Rico Men’s Lacrosse National team, where he helpd organize and lead practices to prepare the team for the 2023 World Lacrosse World Championships.
Suchomma helped build the Grove City program from the ground up serving as the Wolverines’ recruiting coordinator since the program became a varsity sport in 2018. He has extensive knowledge and training in getting prospective athletes to commit and is excited to use those skills to further another young program like the one here at Marietta College.
Suchomma competed collegiately at Walsh University where he was an All-GMAC Midfielder and team captain. He was also nominated for Walsh University Athlete of the Year and earned the All-Academic award. Suchomma led the Cavaliers with 22 goals scored as a senior.
A native of Sylvania, Ohio, Suchomma graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology with an emphasis Criminal Justice in May of 2018.
